The Project
S2N provided preconstruction, design-assist, design, and implementation consulting services for the Inova Schar Cancer Institute in Falls Church, Virginia.
The Inova Schar Cancer Institute is an innovative cancer treatment center which houses high-density radiation vaults, linear accelerators, multiple pharmacies, clinic spaces, and the Proton Therapy Center which provides a revolutionary treatment capable of eliminating cancer cells with incredibly precise proton beams.
S2N provided design and implementation services by working closely with the architect, Inova leadership, and systems managers to create a technology roadmap for early system start-up. Technology implementation included nurse call systems, digital signage, and electronic security systems such as access control and closed-circuit television. S2N also installed audiovisual devices such as patient observation cameras and a 19-by-10-foot video wall. The scope of work also included facilitating the build-out of more than 32 IT and low-voltage vendor rooms to accommodate the integrated systems throughout the building.
